It’s the start of a new year, and the Maxwell Rogers team is ready to smash it. This month, we caught up with Jenni Boyce, Account Director. Jenni joined us last year and is a valued member of the crew, always bringing a smile to our faces. To find out more about Jenni, read her interview, below:
What does a typical day at work look like?
I start with early morning catch ups with the AD team to see how the land lies, a bit of juggling and sweet talking to share out resources and off we go. It’s such an important step to starting the day so you can manage expectations internally and with clients. Then, generally the day is filled with artwork briefs and reviews, client calls and briefings, client follow ups and admin. No two days are the same!
How did you get into your role? What made you want to become an Account Director?
I’ve worked in client service in the creative industry for over 15 years – it’s a crucial role between client and agency to help them strategise and articulate their creative ambitions. I love being in a role where you can facilitate and support a creative outcome.
What would you say is the best thing about your job?
The successful fruition of a project and a happy client. There’s so much that goes on in the background of every piece of work, and so many brilliant minds that contribute to it, so a successful ending always brings a great sense of achievement. That and the endless laughs – we have a brilliant group of people and the wit and banter never stops!
Any advice for someone wanting to become an Account Director?
- Always be prepared and organised
- Be a solution provider and make your clients feel confident and safe
- Be understanding – your clients may not always “speak creative”
What do you like to do outside of work?
I love to cook and prepare most meals in my house. I like batch cooking delicious curries, soups and stews so on the busy days there’s still love on the plate at dinner time.
Tell us something about you that we wouldn’t know from reading your CV?
I’m a bit of a clown. I love to travel and try different food, but not anything fishy. I love bath salts and oils, but not bubbles. Unless they are the drinking kind 😊
When you’re in charge of the office music, what is your go-to playlist?
Anything 80’s – and I sing along to most of it haha!!
What is your favourite font and why?
I can’t choose just one! Typography is one of my great loves!
If you could spend the day with any cartoon character, who would it be?
Garfield! Because he likes sleep and lasagne as much as I do!
What is your favourite Pantone colour?
129 – it’s happy and hopeful with a hint of vintage
