None of the great work we do at Maxwell Rogers would be possible without our fantastic employees. This month we caught up with Victoria Blacklaws, our Senior Creative. To find out more about Victoria, have a read of her interview below!Senior designer Victoria

What does a typical day at work look like?

I can’t function without my morning cup of tea. Then, I’ll usually have a catch up with the team and check in with the AD’s to make sure everything is on track, find out what is booked in my schedule, and see if there are any last minute jobs. There is lots of collaboration throughout the day in the studio, so plans evolve. At lunch, I always try and get a bit of fresh air come rain or shine, so drag my reluctant dog to the park.

How did you get into your role? What made you want to become a Senior Creative?

I always knew I’d go down a creative route and so attended art college, where my initial plan was to go into fabric design. Later, at University, I studied graphic design. I then worked for a bit in print before getting into the digital world – working in London for eCommerce, creative reporting and brand communications agencies.

What would you say is the best thing about your job?

The broad range of clients and projects we get to work on every day.  I love working with different brands, immersing myself in the projects and seeing them come to life. Getting positive feedback and hearing how we have helped our clients is always the best.

Any advice for someone wanting to become a Senior Creative?

Keep an open mind and listen!

What do you like to do outside of work?

My two young kids take up pretty much any time outside of work, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.  We recently moved house, so any free time is spent slowly decorating it (in a ‘odd eclectic way’ according to my husband)! I’ve recently tried to take up dress-making, but not quite ready for the sewing bee!

Tell us something about you that we wouldn’t know from reading your CV?

My pet chickens were in the Big Brother house (Davina McCall days). Unfortunately their fame drew the attention of the local fox…

When you’re in charge of the office music, what is your go-to playlist?

90’s indie.

What is your favourite font and why?

Bodoni. It’s classic and timeless.

If you could spend the day with any cartoon character, who would it be?

Moana, purely for the soundtrack (plus she’s awesome).

What is your favourite Pantone colour?

Pantone 806 – Neon Pink, why not!
